Spanish born, Eduardo
moved to Venezuela in 1982 where his mother "Maleles" is partner with Umberto
Costanzo in Venezuela’s largest and most successful sailing
school. Umberto has been Eduardo's sailing coach since 1984. Eduardo
worked for the school until 2004. After winning his 8th Sunfish
World Championship, Eduardo decided to pursue residency in the
United States where he could give back to the sport. In under 150
days Eduardo was granted permanent residency, an unprecedented
achievement, under the US “extraordinary abilities and athletic
talents,’” application used for immigration “fast track” for those
with special talents to offer the United States population.
Coaching and Instruction Experience
15 years of coaching experience in working at “Americo Vespucio
Sailing School”, Venezuela’s biggest sailing school. Americo
Vespucio sailors have been part of the Venezuelan National sailing
team over the last 15 years. The sailing school has been selected by
the Venezuela Sailing Federation as the training center for the
Optimist, Laser Radial and Sunfish National teams.
Ten years of sailing clinic experience running training camps in the
USA (Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma and New York), Colombia,
the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Eduardo Cordero has coached sailors from all the countries mentioned
above; some of them have finished in the top spots at important
sailing events.
